Line of Duty's Stephen Graham in on-stage blunder at BAFTA TV Awards

He kept us on the edge of our seats playing an intense undercover cop in Line of Duty, but Stephen Graham shocked audiences for another reason at last night's BAFTA TV Awards.

The Scouse actor, who also starred in This Is England and The Damned United, took to the stage to present an award with his co-star Martin Compston.

But as the Manchester Evening News reports, there was a blunder when he went to pull out his glasses to read out the winner, and withdrew a Kit Kat from his pocket instead.

A laughing Stephen explained that he was 'starving' and kept the chocolate wafer snack to keep him going during the lengthy ceremony.

"We're starving, we haven't anything to eat for ages," he said.

"I've just nicked a Kit Kat. We're not going to get any food for two hours."

Stephen, who was there to present the award to the best supporting actress, played John Corbett in the fifth outing of the BBC police drama which had millions of viewers on the edge of their seats for weeks.

The final episode of Line Of Duty was watched by more than nine million people when it aired on Sunday, May 5 in an epic 90-minute grand finale.

Earlier this month, Graham opened up about his struggle with dyslexia and said it is so bad that his wife reads scripts for him and chooses his roles.
