Line of Duty's Martin Compston thanks co-stars for 'mental 10 years' as he drops final hint

Martin Compston thanked his co-stars for a 'mental 10 years' ahead of tonight's Line of Duty finale - and dropped one last hint that has sent fans wild.

The Scottish actor, 36, took to social media on Sunday ahead of the series 6 final, sharing sweet throwback photos with Vicky McClure, Adrian Dunbar and creator Jed Mercurio.

He reflected on the past decade and said he would be 'lost without' the trio before crediting the millions of Line of Duty fans tuning in for each episode.

Martin, who plays DI Steve Arnott on the show, wrote: "Been a wild few weeks and mental 10years with the most amazing cast & crews.

"None more so than the 3 below who I’d be lost without.

"A job of a lifetime only made possible by the fans tuning in series after series, for that I can’t thank you all enough."

The actor couldn't resist dropping one final clue before the final and teased fans with the trademark misspelling linked to the mysterious corrupt police officer 'H', writing: "Answers coming? Definately".

The tweet racked up thousands of likes, with fans taking to the comments to speculate on the final episode.

One wrote: "I desperately want to finally know who H is but I really don't want this amazing series to end."

Another commented: "Someone is dying. I can’t cope."

A third wrote: "Is this the last EVER episode?"

Millions will be tuning in at 9pm on Sunday to find out exactly which copper is 'bent', with the final episode promising to end with a bang.

The mystery of "H", also known as the "Fourth Man", has been the best-kept secret on the show, with fans coming up with wild theories on the shadowy leader of the OCG (Organised Crime Group).

The latest dramatic trailer vowed: "Every investigation has led to this."

It comes as Line of Duty stars discussed whether fans can expect a potential seventh series in an interview on The Jonathan Ross Show on Saturday.

During the interview, Martin Compston revealed that they "don't know" whether a season 7 will go ahead, but told fans: "We’ll come back if there’s a story to tell."
