Line of Duty's Martin Compston's brilliant response to sectarian troll's abuse

Line of Duty star Martin Compston had the perfect response to a troll who hurled sectarian abuse at him online.

Martin, who is currently in Edinburgh for new Amazon Prime production The Rig, replied to the Twitter follower after he received anti-Catholic abuse.

Sharing a previous post to Martin about a special Compstonpolitan drink named after him, the Twitter user wrote: "Oh look another puddle drinking t***ier."

T***ier is a term of sectarian abuse used against Scots of Irish and Catholic origin.

Martin instead joked that the follower, who had also shared a rescue dog post, had misspelled her insult and that she's meant to write terrier instead.

He told fans: 'A quick scroll of their timeline shows despite sectarian tendencies she cares passionately about rescue dogs - terriers not t***iers"

Martin's followers were quick to quip back.

One said: "class response from you as always."

Someone else said: "Can just see her wee rid coupon pure ragin as she’s typing away."

Another joked: "I pity the poor dogs that have to live with that."

It's not the first time Martin has hit back at trolls.

After someone called him a f***** c*** , he replied: "Here’s the bold @billymanc a man concerned with racism and discrimination.

"Unless you’re a catholic of course. enjoy you’re day billy bhoy."
