Line of Duty's Martin Compston pictured on set of new Dundee crime thriller

TV star Martin Compston is pictured on set of his new Dundee -based crime thriller.

The Line of Duty favourite will appear in the series named Traces, which focuses on three female forensic officers trying to crack an unsolved murder.

It's unknown at the moment which role Compton is playing, but his appearance on set is causing a stir with fans.

The six-part series is set in Dundee and it is based on an original idea of crime-writer Val McDermid and produced by an all-female team for channel Alibi.

The 35-year-old from Greenock was caught on camera by our photographer as he filmed scenes with co-star Molly Windsor.

He can be seen walking along S.George Street with Windsor as cameras roll, and sitting on a wall while taking direction from a crew member.

Gone is the posh suit and waistcoat from his previous character DS Steve Arnott, instead Compston is seen in casual jeans and a black jacket.

Yesterday we reported the Scottish Line of Duty star posted pictures online from the city's V&A museum alongside the caption "location was decent this morning" while hashtagging Traces - the name of the programme.
