Line of Duty's Martin Compston hints that Episode 4 is "one of the best ever written"

As if we were not already excited for this week's episode of Line of Duty, Martin Compston has hinted that this instalment is going to be one to watch...

The actor who plays DI Steve Arnott has been getting fans talking online after tweeting about what to expect from Episode 4, without giving anything away, of course.

He said: "Tomorrow's the big one episode 4! On paper one of the best @jed_mercurio has ever written, if we deliver what was there potential to be a classic. Like to give a shout out to the young team Shalom and @gregorypiper98 who give outstanding performances in the midst of the madness."

Fans have taken no time to respond to Compston's tweet with theories on what they are going to see in the upcoming episode, their excitement and their appreciation for the whole series.

One said: "RIP Hastings is my guess...and Jo Davidson is Tommy Hunters daughter...random guesses!"

Another added: "I can't wait, just let hope nothing nasty happens to our man Steve, I don't think I could stand it he has been through enough, totally agree fantastic performances from Shalom and Gregory."

Last week's episode ended with DCI Davidson sending a message to an 'unknown user' typing "All under control now" to which this mysterious character begins to type back just as the music begins to fade in, leaving viewers reeling as to who she could be in contact with.

Some of the main questions that Episode 3 left us was whether AC-12 will bring down Ryan Pilkington, are Kate and Steve all over and whether DSU Buckells could he 'H'.

Actor Craig Parkinson aka DI 'Dot' Cottan, who was killed off at the end of the third series, has also weighed in on what to expect from Episode 4 as he tells fans to prepare themselves before tuning into his Line of Duty podcast.

Parkison tweeted: "Obviously my lips are sealed but you may need a small breather after episode four on Sunday before you join me over on @BBCSounds for #ObsessedWithLineOfDuty".

It is clear from all this online buzz that this next episode is lining up to be a dramatic one and to ensure you are up-to-date with all the important details so far you can recap episode three here.

*Line of Duty Episode 4 airs on Sunday at 9pm on BBC One
