Scores of Line of Duty viewers have been left in no doubt that Patricia Carmichael is 'bent' and quite possibly H after accusing her of some very slippery behaviour in Sunday's crunch episode.
After last weekend's fifth episode left millions hanging with its 'shoot' out cliffhanger, a huge audience tuned into BBC1 at 9pm to find out that, much to their relief, it wasn't Kate Fleming who lost her life, but dodgy PC Ryan Pilkington.
But Kate didn't escape from the drama unscathed as, after fleeing the scene, both she and DCI Jo Davidson were arrested as AC-12, led by Carmichael and Hastings swooped.
Hastings was left wondering how Kate and Jo were found so sharply, given they raced away in Steve Arnott's car and was then appalled when Carmichael, many viewers' tip to be H, told him that tracking devices had been placed on all AC-12 vehicles as she "didn't trust" them.
Carmichael's devious behaviour didn't air there though and she fuelled more suspicion when she took charge of a brutal, 29 minute interrogation of Davidson in the interview room.
Watching intently, one viewer tweeted: "Carmichael is a bent one for sure. In league with the big boss. Don’t worry Ted will get her," and, echoing those sentiments entirely, another posted: "If Carmichael isn't bent then my whole life is a lie"
A third posted: "The way Carmichael was shutting down every question on Osborne... definitely bent!!! 1 more episode to go!!" and others were full of praise for Carmichael actress Anna Maxwell-Martin.
Heaping praise on the Motherland star, one commented: "Kudos to Anna Maxwell Martin for uniting the country in their hatred of bent b***h Carmichael," and a second writing: "the way we all hate Patricia Carmichael so much really is a testament to how insanely talented Anna Maxwell Martin is"
The big reason, aside from Carmichael's behaviour, for fans thinking she is H is down to a cryptic word clue.
During episode 4, Jimmy Lakewell turned down the opportunity to speak to DS Steve Arnott about why murdered journalist Gail Vella had contacted him and, Lakewell calmly told him: "Look beyond the race claim to find H."
Certain they'd solved the mystery, one viewer tweeted: "We all know Patricia Carmichael is H. Jimmy Lakewell said 'look beyond the race claim to find H'.
"So take the letters of RACE CLAIM from the letters of CARMICHAEL. What do you get? H. Solved it."
