Line of Duty's Anna Maxwell-Martin taken aback by 'aggressive' Phillip Schofield interrogation

Line of Duty star Anna Maxwell-Martin jokingly accused Phillip Schofield of adopting an 'aggressive' interview technique when she appeared on This Morning on Monday.

Hot on the heels of Sunday night's unmissable sixth episode of the new series, the actress, who plays now loathsome character Patricia Carmichael, joined Phillip and co-host Holly Willoughby via video call from her home.

Anna's appearance on the ITV daytime show came as many viewers became convinced that not only is Carmichael a 'bent copper' but she could well be H.

Speculation intensified last week due to eagle eyed viewers homing in on something said by Jimmy Lakewell to Steve Arnott in episode 4, when he told him: "Look beyond the race claim to find H."

Fans worked out if you take the letters 'race claim' from Carmichael the missing letter is H and, adding even more fuel to the fire, Phillip suggested the fact that Carmichael tapped her pen four times during her intense interrogation of Jo Davidson during Sunday's episode was also a huge pointer that she was H.

Phillip told Motherland star Anna, who said she had 'forgotten' most of her filming on Line of Duty as she was also busy with the BBC2 sitcom, "let me remind you of something that set social media alight and don't claim to me you can't remember this moment!"

Taken aback by Phillip's tone, Anna replied: "That's very aggressive Phil!"

Laughing, Phillip continued: "When you're in the interview room and you tap the pen four times," as a seemingly bemused Anna put her hand to her mouth as she chuckled away.

The clip then played out which did indeed show Carmichael tapping her pen off the desk four times, to which Phillip exclaimed: "that's H in morse code!"

Anna then told him: "I think I was just bored! Those scenes are very long.

"'I think I was like 'where, what, what am I saying next? Errrm."

Not convinced at all by her reply, Phillip responded: "Yeah yeah yeah," before Holly added: "You really are such a brilliant actress that you could just be pulling the wool over our eyes completely here and I think that might be what's happening."
