Line of Duty star Adrian Dunbar, who plays Superintendent Ted Hastings in the hit police drama, has made a major revelation about his character.

The big question hanging over the sixth series of Jed Mercurio’s BBC thriller is the identity of the final member of “H”, an elusive syndicate made up of four corrupt coppers, with many speculating that it could be fan-favourite Hastings.
In a new interview with Elizabeth Day on her podcast How to Fail, Dunbar has revealed he is... wait for it... NOT the culprit.
Speaking about the moment Mercurio told him he was not in H, Dunbar said: “It was a relief for me, as I spent all this time playing this character and I always thought Ted had a sense of duty and a moral core. And to have found out I was this arch villain… I would have been in real difficulty accepting that.”

He added: “Jed is aware of our audience and they know Ted has a sense of moral fortitude. I am glad he came out of it with flying colours.”
Line of Duty may be renowned for its attention to detail and meticulous plotting, but fans did spot a blunder in the latest episode.
At one point during episode three, Steve Arnott (Martin Compston) is seen hurrying into a lift to avoid taking a drugs test.
As the detective backs into a corner, the entire figure of a cameraman is visible in at the side of the frame.
Viewers picked up on the gaffe, with one person writing on social media: “Everything ok Steve, you seem to have a tv camera in the lift with you there.”
Line of Duty airs on Sunday nights at 9pm on BBC One.
