Line of Duty's Adrian Dunbar gives update on BBC show's return after season six finale

Adrian Dunbar has revealed that he’s ‘sure’ L ine of Duty will return amid fears the show won’t make a comeback with seventh series.

The Irish actor, who plays DSI Ted Hastings on the BBC police drama, has already come up with a number of storylines and plots which he expects could play out when the much-loved TV show hits screens again.

It comes amid fears Line of Duty won’t return after viewers finally discovered who the famous ‘H’ was in the final episode of the sixth series.

The 63-year-old actor has shed some light on the show’s return, reassuring fans that he’s ‘sure’ he’ll be back on screens with Ted Hastings famous ‘mother of god’ and ‘bent coppers’ catchphrases.

“I'm sure the BBC want to do another series. We do, because we want to get together again,” the actor told GQ Magazine.

"I have a couple of ideas. We all have ideas that we share – but I'd rather not say what they are,” he continued when sharing his future hopes for storylines.

“There are things embedded in the storyline that could come together to make up a very interesting series seven."

The highly-anticipated season finale attracted a whopping 15.24 million viewers - making it the UK's most-watched drama series of the 21st century so far.

Audiences watched in disbelief as DSU Ian Buckells was finally unveiled as the mysterious H - the corrupt police officer who was at the centre of every storyline.

Despite its resounding success, Line of Duty writer Jed Mercurio has no plans set in stone for another series.

Following season six’s sensational finale, the TV writer said: “If there was a way, we'd obviously look at that seriously.

“But at the moment, we do not have a plan in place.”

It comes after Adrian Dunbar previously suggested that the ‘H’ drama could still be unresolved.

Speaking on the BAFTA TV red carpet, the Irish star said ‘there may be a way to go’ with the storyline.
