It may be renowned for its attention to detail and meticulous plotting, but sometimes even Line of Duty slips up.

That’s exactly what happened in the latest episode, as eagle-eyed viewers noticed a filming blunder during one scene featuring Steve Arnott (Martin Compston).

At one point during episode three (which aired on Sunday, 4 April), Arnott is seen hurrying into a lift to avoid taking a drugs test.

As the detective backs into a corner, the entire figure of a cameraman is visible in at the side of the frame.

Viewers picked up on the gaffe, with one person writing on social media: “Everything ok Steve, you seem to have a tv camera in the lift with you there.”

“Cameraman spotted on Line of Duty in the lift,” wrote someone else.

The official Line of Duty Twitter account even responded to someone pointing out the cameraman, writing: “Or was it...”

Judging by the slightly foul-mouthed GIF that accompanied the reply, however, the show has confirmed that this was indeed unintentional.

The blunder isn’t the only background detail that fans noticed in the most recent episode of the series.

Some viewers also thought they had spotted a clue to the identity of “H” hidden in a kitchen tile during one scene.

Line of Duty continues on Sunday 11 April at 9pm on BBC One.
