Line of Duty on Sport Relief: Will there be another series and when is it on?

It's the programme that gripped the nation during its most recent run last spring.

And now it is back - just not as know it.

Line Of Duty fans will see Detective Sergeant Steve Arnott, Detective Inspector Kate Fleming and Superintendent Ted Hastings return to their screens on Friday night.

This is because Sport Relief will take a special visit to AC 12 as part of its live telethon.

BBC One will air a star-studded night of music, entertainment and comedy to raise funds to transform the lives of vulnerable people and communities throughout the UK and internationally.

As part of the live show, fans will get to see DS Arnott, DI Fleming and Superintendent Hastings grill corrupt cop DC Taylor - who's being played by none other than Jason Isaacs.

And things take a bigger twist when DC Taylor has to rely on the less than up to standard lawyer David Rickman - played by Lee Mack.

But seeing our favourite trio on screen has left us wondering, is there another series still to come and if so, WHEN!

Well, the best news is that there will be another Line Of Duty and the cast have already been teasing us with snaps from filming last month.

The sixth instalment of Jed Mercurio's hit BBC thriller is set a year and a half on from the events of series five, and will feature a brand new case for AC-12, focused on an enigmatic Detective Chief Inspector.

Filming has begun (PA)

Kelly Macdonald is set to join the cast as Joanne Davidson - a senior investigating officer on an unsolved murder case.

Vicky McClure, Martin Compston and Adrian Dunbar will all return in their respective roles.

The sad news is, a date hasn't been set. At least not a specific one.

All we know is that the series will premiere later this year on the BBC, a year and a half on from the last gripping instalment.
