Line of Duty on BBC: Is there going to be another series and when will it be released?

It's fair to say that Line of Duty fans are eagerly anticipating the return of the cop drama.

So they'll probably be pleased to know that the popular series returns tonight (August 3).

But sadly, it's just a repeat of series one which will be shown on BBC One every Monday and Tuesday - and it's the first time it has aired on the main channel.

The first ever LoD was broadcast on BBC Two back in 2012 starring our now much loved Martin Compston as DS Steve Arnott, Vicky McClure as DI Kate Fleming and Adrian Dunbar as Superintendent Ted Hastings.

So those who missed it the first time round can find out where it all started for AC12 and the hunt for the mysterious and corrupt 'H'.

Or if you did see it before, it's another excuse to watch it in all its dramatic glory.

But this has left us desperate to know when we will get a brand new series after series five left us on the edge of our seats when it came to an end last year.

The good news is that series six is happening and filming began earlier this year, however, the bad news is that it had to be halted due to the coronavirus pandemic and it is still not back up and running just yet.

It is hoped that the cast and crew will be back filming series six next month with Covid-secure guidelines in place.

This could also set plans for its release and therefore leave fans waiting a little longer to find out if AC12 are any closer to tracking down 'H'.

Line of Duty series one airs Monday and Tuesday on BBC One at 9pm.
