Line of Duty issues exciting update with big change for sixth series

Line of Duty fans have been eagerly awaiting the next installment for nearly two years.

But there's good news for those who are excited to have the AC-12 clan back on screens.

It was revealed in November last year that the BBC cop drama will be back on screens "sometime" in March.

Now, the creators of the show have issued an exciting update with the upcoming sixth series set to feature an extra episode.

That's another whole hour of the gripping drama that manages to keep millions of us glued to our screens each week.

In a tweet from the official Line of Duty Twitter account, they said: "Listen up, fellas. When the gaffer asks for more, you better deliver. #LineOfDuty returns for Series 6 with an extra episode (7 instead of 6).

"Coming soon to @BBCOne and @BBCiPlayer."

The tweet also features a 20-second clip, seemingly hinting at what's to come.

But it's just a bit of spoof and nothing to do with what will happen in series six.

It sees Detective Inspector Ted Hastings tell DS Steve Arnott he "needs more" to launch a formal inquiry a "hell of a lot more" - only for him to reply: "How about an extra episode, gaffer?"

And fans are beside themselves.

One wrote: "Oh Christ can we just have it now please? It’s been a hard year. I need this."

"7!! MOTHER OF GOD!! Thats amazing," another screamed.

A third added: "It can't come soon enough! I think a lot of us need some form of escapism from reality right now."

Adrian Dunbar, Vicky McClure and Martin Compston all reunited in September to reprise their roles as Superintendent Ted Hastings, Detective Inspector Kate Fleming and Detective Sergeant Steve Arnott after a delay in filming due to the coronavirus pandemic.
