Line of Duty: Glasgow Twitter reacts to 'tremendous' latest episode

Well - wasn't that quite an episode? It was almost worth the week we had to wait for it.

Line of Duty fans were left needing a stiff drink after the most recent episode of Jed Mercurio's smash-hit BBC drama.

We had a major police shootout resulting in a dead officer, an over-turned vehicle, bent prison guards and a shock cliffhanger in the final moments that saw viewers literally turning upside down to catch sight of.

Glasgow star Kelly Macdonald wowed alongside fellow Scot Martin Compston as the walls started to cave in around her - and of course, many questions are left to be asked. (Namely, WHO is she related to?!)

It was a rollercoaster from start to finish, kicking off with the interview of DS Ian Buckells over corruption at The Hill, and his links with baddie Ryan Pilkington.

Without giving too much away, we said goodbye to an important character from seasons previous - and one that could hold all the answers.

The folks at AC-12 have a month now to try and discover the true identity of H - we won't say why there is now a timeframe - but we know they have it in them.

The episode was masterfully brought to a close with a half-revelation cliffhanger when Arnott and Bishop presented Hastings with a file proving a DNA link between Jo Davidson and... a person we couldn't really see in a small picture now screen-grabbed a thousand times on Twitter.

And just in case you thought it would be easy to figure out who the relation is (by hanging upside down and pausing the tv) the image was actually just one of Davidson.

Guesses range from series one gangster Tommy Hunter being Jo Davidson's dad (but we think that could be purely down to the accents) to murdered property developer Jackie Laverty from series one being her mother.

Fans likened the episode to "having a full cardio workout" with one saying: "that has to be the most intense episode of Line of Duty ever, Mother of God."

Here's the ever-elusive picture of Jo Davidson that had viewers screaming at the TV.

Jack Macdonald wrote: "Dunno how people have the will power tae wait till every episode a Line of Duty is out whilst everyone else is talking about it - am there at 9 every Sunday waiting for it man."

Karen Bonner got it exactly right when it came to staying away from Twitter from the spoilers as speculation was rife. : "Me scrolling through Facebook and Twitter when I haven’t managed to watch any episodes from Line of Duty new series yet"

Jamie was quite right: "a canny breathe at line of duty, that car crash was intense".

Gavin Pearson's daughter took her detective work to whole other level when trying to find out who Jo Davidson's blood relative was.

Dave Dangerfield got the Steve Arnott in one after that amazing shot from the van:

And ... did anyone else find themselves looking like this at the end of the episode?

So what's your thoughts? Are you hanging on by tenterhooks for next week - or do you think you've worked out who Jo's relative is? Let us know in comments.
