Line of Duty: Glasgow reacts to 'complete gaggery' of episode five

Well, wasn't that an episode?

It turns out that apparently everyone with a Scottish accent is related - or, at least in Line of Duty land, where it turned out that Jo Davidson's (Kelly Macdonald) mystery relative was the most obvious in the form of fellow Scot, Tommy Hunter.

Was it just us that was slightly disappointed by that one?

Either way - episode five of Line of Duty had a bit of everything. When we say 'complete gaggery' (the art of telling jokes) let's just say that it was Jed Mercurio who had the last laugh.

We had a siege, a shootout, a return of awful cop (Carmichael) and the introduction of a new one and a new case to go back over - that of Lawrence Christopher, rightly reminiscent of the real-life tragedy of Stephen Lawrence.

Tell us what you thought of the episode in the comments section below.

On top of that, yet another bent cooper is now in the mix in the arrival of new face, DCI Marcus Thurwell, played by Jimmy Nesbitt.

The lasting image of the episode saw yet another incredible cliffhanger when Kate Fleming, played by Vicki McClure, brandishes a gun at Ryan Pilkington, played by Dudley actor Gregory Piper.

The pair both urge the other to drop their firearms as Jo watches on, screaming.

Could this be the end of Kelly Macdonald's incredible appearance in the series? Or - Kate Fleming? Or Ryan?

We don't know - all will 'definately' be revealed next week. But what did Glasgow have to say about last night's episode?

We're with Elaine here - it's starting to get a bit tense in here!

Janice Janey Gormley says Line of Duty is really capturing the nation and bringing people together. Who knew bonding over fictional police corruption narratives could do such a thing?

Jodi Limerick is bang on when it comes to Carmichael, who has complete Professor Umbridge energy about her. Why does it make it worse that she doesn't like to shout?

Spot on. If 2020 was a person...

We are on the same page as Danielle McKernan here when it comes to the week wait...

We're loving Jack's outcry over the sheer gaggery of the last episode.

Paul Haverstock has encompassed the complete adrenaline rush we are still enduring...

Jude Maclaverty served us a true throwback.

And in this stroke of genius, Sean McLaughlan has caught Jed Mercurio out on where he got his inspiration for this week's episode. It was from Jack and Victor.
