Line of Duty fans think they've spotted plot twist for major character in new photos from the set

Eagled-eyed fans of Line Of Duty reckon they've uncovered a major plot development for leading character Steve Arnott.

The show is currently filming in Belfast for its sixth season, and show creator Jed Mercurio has been giving updating on Twitter, sharing photos from the set.

However, Mercurio might not have been counting on the show's fans spotting a new twist that may impact on the sixth season.

The show creator's shared snaps on Twitter showing DI Kate Fleming (played by Vicky McClure), DS Steve Arnott (Martin Compston) and Superintendent Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar) all dressed in official uniform with bullet-proof vests, with Kate holding a handgun, in what appears to be a raid scene.

Jed captioned the post: "#LineofDuty6 Another great week of filming in Belfast."

Sharp-eyed viewers quickly zoomed in to DS Arnott's uniform and spotted something new about his character.

One noticed that his symbolic three stripes on his shoulder had gone, appearing to suggest that his Sergeant status had vanished.

But one suggested it might be part of AC-12's latest operation.

"Or undercover?" they replied.

Season six of the Line Of Duty resumed filming in September after stopping due to the  coronavirus  pandemic.

The production team say they have been adhering to comprehensive protocols to ensure that the new series is produced in a safe and responsible manner.

In the snaps, both the cast and crew wore face masks between shots.

Series six will see AC-12 investigating DCI Joanne Davidson, played by Kelly Macdonald, the senior investigating officer of an unsolved murder case.
