Line Of Duty fans spot 'Theresa May cameo' as lookalike actress makes appearance

Line of Duty fans were delighted after spotting a Theresa May lookalike in Sunday night’s episode.

The new season of the police drama aired on March 21, and despite the drama, fans were distracted by a certain grey-haired actress.

Many viewers took to Twitter to comment that the former Prime Minister, 64, and the police officer extra were basically twins.

The scene in question showed the woman taking notes while DI Kate Fleming (played by Vicky McClure) and her colleagues listened to a briefing by Detective Chief Inspector Joanne Davidson (played by Kelly Macdonald).

The actress was wearing a navy cardigan and listened intently to what the Detective Chief Inspector had to say.

“Nice to see Theresa May's found something to do with her time,” one user joked.

Another posted on Twitter: “Never knew Theresa May was breaking out into the acting field....”

Meanwhile, another commented: “Hello to the Theresa May taking notes in the middle #LineOfDuty”

“Theresa May guesting in the new #LineOfDuty is one of the best plot twists yet,” another user said, making the same joke.

Meanwhile, the BBC announcer was forced to clarify what an acronym stood for after it was mistaken for a rude word.

Throughout the episode, viewers can hear the characters use the term CHIS a lot, but most thought they were saying something entirely different.

As the credits rolled at the end of the episode, the voice over said: "CHIS, if you're wondering, is a covert human intelligence source."

It came after several viewers pointed out that the pronunciation of CHIS actually sounded a lot like 'jizz'.

Line of Duty made a triumphant return after a two-year hiatus, but it didn’t come without a political ‘cameo’ and rude acronyms.
