Line of Duty fans divided over brutal death scene as character's throat slit

Line of Duty viewers slammed the show on Sunday, after the brutal murder of John Corbett in seriously gruesome scenes.

Stephen Graham’s character was killed off in brutal scenes, after being outed as a grass amongst the criminal group he was working for.

For the past few weeks, despite going way too far, John has been working to expose the mystery ‘H’, the corrupt officer working for organised crime.

He’s managed to keep his true identity from those he’s working with including Lisa McQueen, while secretly trying to bring them down.

But he was exposed by Lisa and the others in the latest tense episode, and he paid with his life.

Lisa and John made a deal with another criminal organisation to trade a group of girls they planned to traffic, after losing their base in the recent flat raids.

But it was when this raid took place that things took a shocking turn, with John trying to free the girls and turning a gun on the man in charge.

He was set up, as when he opened the room where the girls were held he was grabbed from behind, with his throat slit.

In horrific scenes, viewers saw the killer strike, before a bleeding John fell to the ground.

As he struggled to breathe, covered in his own blood, some viewers admitted the scenes were too much.

It’s then that Lisa informed a dying John that she knew he was a rat, before she and the others removed his body from the scene, leaving a pool of blood in their wake.

Taking to Twitter , one viewer said of the scenes: “ There’s a bit too much unexpected and gory throat- slicing in this series."

Another commented: “Genuinely don't think they needed to show that in all the gory detail."

A third commented: "Oh jeez, well that was brutal."
