Line of Duty fans say Coronation Street has 'ripped off explosive scene'

Line of Duty fans were furious last night after Coronation Street 'ripped off' one of their scenes.

The ITV soap had fans on the edge of their seats last night as they kicked off a huge week of plot twists with evil villain Harvey Gaskell seen escaping custody.

The villainous gangster arranged an escape from his prison van - but the van then crashed into Dev Alahan’s parked car with his twin children Asha and Aadi inside for the collision.

The van then overturned and crashed onto its side on the road.

Evil Harvey was then seen breaking out of the van and standing on top of it in the rain.

But while some enjoyed the dramatic scenes, others were quick to comment on how similar it was to hit BBC One crime drama Line of Duty.

Another added: "Oh hi Coronation St? I've got Line of Duty on the phone. #Corrie."

One commented: “OMG #Corrie just turned into Line of Duty!"

Meanwhile, another admirer of the soap opera noted: “Half expected to hear the theme tune to Terminator play when @Mellor76 emerged from that prison van! #Corrie”.

*Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7.30pm on ITV with previous episodes available on ITV Hub.
