Line of Duty: Fans react to all the hints and all the action from Series 6 Episode 1

Line of Duty returned to our screens on Sunday night for its sixth season, following a two year break - and did we miss it!

This season follows a fractured AC-12 as they take up the case of DCI Joanne Davidson (Kelly MacDonald), who may be disrupting an investigation into the high-profile murder of one Gail Vella.

But, as is always the case with Line of Duty, things aren't as straightforward or simple as they seem.

Joanne Davidson appears to have the trust of former AC-12 officer Kate Fleming. Not only that, but Ted Hastings' solo missions in Season 5 have left AC-12 out in the cold with their superiors, meaning it'll surely be harder to get to the bottom of things this time round.

With a brilliantly sequenced opening scene and plenty of drama and intrigue throughout, audiences were left satisfied by the show's return.

However, many pointed out the distinct lack of screen time for one character in particular...

Others were quick to put together helpful acronym lists for the extreme amount of police terminology in this episode, with words like 'C.H.I.S.' and 'U.C.O.' being thrown out without explanation.

Meanwhile, other viewers went down the investigative route, to try to uncover if there were any hints or secrets from the first episode which could help us find out who 'H' is, or what links any of these officers might have to the OCG.

Viewers spotted that Superintendent Buckells had a set of golf clubs in his office, leading many to suspect that he might be one the 'caddies' (corrupt officers).

Most viewers were just happy to see the return of the now iconic Ted Hastings - as well as witnessing him deliver some Northern Irish dialogue with signature brio.

Line of Duty returns to our screens on Sunday, March 28th, at 9pm on BBC One.
