Line of Duty fans in hysterics at Luke Kempner’s ‘absolutely brilliant’ impersonations

Viewers have been left in hysterics after impressionist Luke Kempner took on Line of Duty in his latest video.

As fans approach the series six finale this Sunday (2 May), Kempner has provided some well-timed entertainment.

The comic and impressionist first rose to fame in 2012 with his viral parody video of Downton Abbey, titled “Downstairs at Downton”.

He has now shared a four-minute clip lampooning the ongoing crime drama, accompanied by the caption: “Line of Duty IMPRESSIONS… Steve has discovered the worst crime EVER committed. #LineOfDuty #LOD #MotherOfGod #LineOfLukey.”

In it, Kempner impersonates a range of characters on BBC’s hit police procedural drama.

Among them are DI Steve Arnott (played by Martin Compston) and Superintendent Ted Hastings (played by Adrian Dunbar).

Kempner delivers jokes about Arnott’s penchant for waistcoats and a riff on Hastings’s iconic catchphrases.

He also offers takes on DI Kate Fleming (Vicky McClure) and Acting Detective Superintendent Joanne Davidson (played by this season’s guest star Kelly MacDonald).

Introducing Davidson in the sketch – and dressed in the character’s typical turtleneck and blazer attire – Kempner parodies one of this season’s biggest questions.

Speaking as the character, Kempner says: “I am Davidson, I am Scottish and I am really trying to work out who I’m related to.”

“So hilarious! Love your Arnott and Hastings impressions!” commented one person on Twitter.

Another user added: “Mother of God Luke that was Absolutely brilliant”, while someone else wrote: “Mother of God you’re good.”

A fourth person said: “These are brilliant mate.” Many fans tagged Compston and McClure in the hope that the actors might see Kempner’s video.

Line of Duty series six concludes Sunday 2 May at 9pm on BBC One.
