Line of Duty fans fear for Kate Fleming after dramatic episode five gun cliffhanger

Line of Duty fans are fearing for Kate Fleming after a dramatic cliffhanger saw her face off with a gun-wielding Ryan Pilkington.

The show stalwart was lured into an empty car park by Jo Davidson.

Kate messaged AC-12's Steve Arnott the address - but Davidson drove into the car park before AC-12 could reach her.

Jo told Kate she was sorry before corrupt police officer Ryan stepped out of the car with a gun pointed at her.

Kate told Ryan to put the gun down and managed to turn her own weapon on him - then in the the final moments of the episode two shots were fired as the screen went blank.

Nikki Jones said on Twitter: "Omg #LineOfDuty has got me a nervous wreck. Can’t cope."

Ellie-27 said: "If Kate is dead we storm the BBC I won’t have this."

Emma Holmes added: "I swear to god if Kate dies I won’t watch again I’ll go on strike."

Other fans have a theory that the two shots were both from Kate's gun.

Bethany wrote: "Gunshots ... Hope Kate shot him twice!".

The confrontation was foreshadowed throughout the episode, with Kate authorised to carry a concealed firearm over fears for her safety.

Superintendent Ted Hastings argued that OCG member Pilkington had been groomed since childhood as a fixer for organised crime and if he was brought in, would say nothing.

Steve Arnott argued he was a "danger to other officers, not least Kate."

The episode also saw the return of another Hastings catchphrase: "Now we're sucking diesel".
