Fans have discovered that if you scan the code with your mobile phone, it directs you to a document entitled “Operation Easter Egg Hunt”.
The file takes the form of a letter sent from Chief Constable Philip Osborne (Owen Teale) to DCC Andrea Wise (Elizabeth Rider), which proposes the ousting of Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar) as leader of AC-12.
The letter contains within it a link to a fake pharmacy prescription, issued to DS Steve Arnott (Martin Compston).
Hidden in the prescription is a sequence of morse code, which then steered fans to an unlisted news video report seemingly set in the Line of Duty universe. At the bottom of the video, people noticed an algebraic code, “(Hx6) + ? .xyz” which appears at the bottom of the screen four times.
A link in the video description also leads to a location on google maps: Birmingham’s Green Lane.
On Reddit, people are sharing their progress on the Easter egg hunt, with the search for the final destination still ongoing.
