The hottest show in town at the moment is British cop drama Line of Duty, with bums across the country glued to sofas on Sunday nights as we follow Ted Hastings and team on the hunt for bent coppers.
Kelly Macdonald's new role as DCI Joanne Davidson has been met with widespread praise, with the Glaswegian actress saying that taking on the role as the new 'guest lead' "was a bit like being the new James Bond".
One thing's for sure about the appearance of former Trainspotting, Boardwalk Empire and Nanny McPhee star - who used to work in Sauchiehall Street pub Brunswick Cellars back in the day - and that's that fans can't stop talking about her accent.
On the one hand, viewers across the country have taken to Twitter to express their love for it.
One viewer tweeted: "This is probs really niche I-went-to-drama-school-and-am-now-very-conscious-of-my-accent content but I’m obsessed with Kelly Macdonald’s voice", and was joined by another who wrote: "Oh I’m obsessed with Kelly Macdonald’s accent..."
Joining them are fellow fans who wrote: "Kelly Macdonald is the only reason why I like the Scottish accent" and "Kelly Macdonald probably has my favourite accent in acting" as well as "I love Kelly Macdonald‘s accent on Line of Duty. I’d believe anything she says".
But on the flip-side, others seem to be finding her accent a tad irritating.
One viewer of the show wrote: "Sorry but I'm not a fan of Kelly MacDonald in the role of DCI Davidson. Her accent and intonation 'gets oan ma nerves'. Nothing to do with being Scottish (which I am). I think she's miscast".
Another tweeted: "Kelly Macdonald's accent is irritating, does people really speak like that in Scotland?"
And they were joined by others who took to Twitter to write: "I'm no having that Kelly MacDonald's accent. Pure forced politeness. Never met anyone is Scotland who talks like that" and "Kelly Macdonald’s accent is brutal".
Some have even gone as far to suggest that she is using the (in)famous 'Glasgow Uni' accent - an accent that grinds gears across the city as we discovered back in January last year, with one Tweet reading: "Glasgow Uni accent on LOD..."
