Line of Duty fans baffled over accent 'blunder' after Roisin's bizarre admission

Line of Duty viewers were left seriously confused over a “blunder” during the latest episode, in the fallout to the attack on Ted Hastings’ wife.

Roisin was in hospital after being brutally harmed in the previous episode by John Corbett, while it was left unknown whether there was a second attacker.

But when Hastings and the officers quizzed Roisin about what she remembered from the incident, she made a surprising confession.

She revealed the man who attacked her was from back home, in Northern Ireland.

Roisin claimed the man had a Belfast accent, despite viewers who watched last week knowing this was not the case.

One fan questioned on Twitter : “Oh dear, Mrs Ted ... Irish accent?”

As another said: “Belfast accent? Awful one if that’s the case.”

Then, the team were played a recording via Corbett from the attack, and it was revealed the man speaking had an Irish resembling accent.

But viewers spotted a mile off that it was potentially false, guessing it to be John, and definitely not that of someone from Belfast.

It’s then that they quizzed the “blunder” unsure why Roisin didn’t work out straight away that it wasn’t a genuine Belfast accent, before claiming to the police what she heard.

One fan said: “That’s a s**te accent, she should’ve spotted that as a fake.”

Another agreed: “She should've known it was a fake accent, no?”

A third said: “That was a shocker of a Belfast accent!”

Line of Duty airs Sundays at 9pm on BBC One.
