With five seasons already under their belt, nobody could accuse the famous trio that works for AC-12 of easing up.
In fact, with Season 6 of Line Of Duty set for release this Sunday, we're told that Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar) Steve Arnott (Martin Compston) and Kate Fleming (Vicky McClure) are set to face their highest-profile case yet as they investigate the enigmatic DCI Joanne Davidson (Kelly Macdonald)
Of course, there's also the small matter of the elusive and mysterious 'H' that needs to be solved too.
After pursuing the likes of DCI Tony Gates, DCI Roz Huntley, DI Lindsay Denton, and more, there's one thing for sure, AC-12 always get the job done but in Season 6, they'll need one more episode to potentially crack the case.
In previous years, each season of Line Of Duty was wrapped up in six episodes but things are going to be a little different in Season 6.
Speaking with the Irish Mirror and other outlets, Jed Mercurio, the show's writer/creator, explains why this season will be the longest one yet.
"It would have ended early if we did six episodes because we had more stuff. Actually, it wasn't the case of planning seven episodes. It was just the effect of the interruption of shooting and when we went back, we ended up for longer periods working with two units.
"The season is longer for all kinds of reasons related to safety, getting through the shoot faster, and being able to have a crew who could step in if other departments had to self-isolate. That all meant that we were able to shoot more additional material than we normally do. We tend to overshoot because we usually shoot a lot of explanations of things and in the edit, we decide whether we need them or not?
"We would usually decide whether or not things are clear enough without all the intervening stages being explained and laid out for the audience. So, what we found is that when we got to the end of this season, we initially conceived of having a 90-minute episode six but with all the editions, it was pretty clear that it was going to be two hours. Then we got into a chat with the BBC about the best way to handle that and everyone agreed that the best idea was to split the last episode into two and that created episode 7."
Season 6 of Line Of Duty starts at 9pm on BBC1 this Sunday.
