Line of Duty cordon appears in Nottingham city centre

Line of Duty's Balaclava Man is not only back but at large, if scenes from Nottingham city centre and Beeston this morning are anything to go by (Thursday, March 28).

Both the Quartet statue, in Chapel Bar, and The Beekeeper, in High Road, were amongst those across the country to be cordoned off as the menacing enemy of AC-12 left a telling calling-card.

The promotion comes ahead of Line of Duty's return to BBC One on Sunday, March 31 at 9pm.

To get fans in the mood anyone who spots the balaclavas and shares a picture of them on social media with the hashtag #BalaclavaManIsBack can receive an exclusive clip from the brand new fifth series of the show.

Nottingham actress Vicky McClure will be making her return as DS Kate Fleming later and she'll be joined for the first time by This Is England co-star Stephen Graham. A leaked photo appeared to show the 45-year-old Boardwalk Empire actor removing a balaclava. Although his role is yet to be confirmed, fans are assuming he is another mysterious Balaclava Man.

Returning alongside Vicky are Martin Compston as DS Steve Arnott and and Adrian Dunbar as Superintendent Ted Hastings. Filming all six episodes was completed before the end of 2018.

Line of Duty has already been commissioned for a sixth instalment, which is set to film in the next couple of years.
