Line of Duty cast's Ted Hastings - Northern Ireland catchphrases that top cop could use

He's well-known for some brilliant Northern Irish phrases, but Line of Duty's Ted Hastings topped all of them on series five's opener on Sunday.

His use of "I didn't come up the Lagan in a bubble" had Belfast fans in stitches.. and he's known to throw in a "Mother of God" or "Jesus, Mary and Joseph" every now and again.

Writer Jed Mercurio revealed that the 'bubble' line came as a result of an event in Belfast where the audience were asked to come up with a colloquialism for him to include.

He said: "We did an event at the MAC and I asked the audience to throw out some colloquialisms. I have to say some were rubbish but there were a couple that were very good and there was one that for me felt like it was so insane that it was irresistable."
