Line Of Duty cast's Ted Hastings has his own drinking game reveals Adrian Dunbar

Ted Hastings, the no-nonsense police boss in Line Of Duty, is the “fella” to sort Brexit, says the actor who plays him.

Adrian Dunbar, 60, said Ted would “make very short work” of getting us out of Europe. He said: “He’d get a few of those guys across the table – Barnier and Tusk and a few of those guys – and put them on a bit of interrogation.

“Then, he’d pull out a few of the eccentrics, like Rees-Mogg and others, and he’d give them an even bigger grilling.”

Ted and his crew in AC-12, the anti-corruption unit, are back on BBC1 at 9pm on Sunday for Series Five.

Marcella series 3 will be set in Belfast

On the Series Linked TV podcast, Adrian said: “It’s fabulous. You get to my age and infirmities and suddenly a nice part like this comes along.

“There’s a Ted Hastings bingo thing that happens, where guys kind of, every time I say ‘fella’, they have to drink a pint. There was a cabbie today that said, ‘All right, see you later, fella’. Everybody’s on it, it’s so funny, but it’s great, it’s great.

Line of Duty boss reveals why he never casts posh actors on the show

“It’s just kind of caught the Zeitgeist. Ted’s been a real game changer for me.”

But he will have to set his TV up to watch on Sunday. He said: “I take it out from behind the sofa. I don’t have a telly out. It stops you watching nonsense.”
