Line closed and services affected after person struck by train near Shotts

A person has been struck by a train between Shotts and Livingston South.

ScotRail announced the tragic incident happened just before 2pm this afternoon (Wednesday).

The line has been closed and services between Edinburgh, Haymarket, Slateford, Wester Hailes and Curriehill and Glasgow, Cambuslang, Uddingston, Bellshill, Holytown, Carfin, Cleland, Hartwood and Shotts have now been replaced by buses.

A ScotRail statement reads: “Unfortunately we have had reports of a person being struck by a train between Shotts and Livingston South, because of this the line is currently closed & services will be disrupted.

“We are working closely with emergency services & will update you once we receive more info.”
