Yes, I am a traditionalist and still read the College Football Preview magazines. I keep a copy somewhere near the television or — ah-hem, bathroom, for the ability to digest it as things lead into the season.
We wrote last week on where Athlon Sports had Ohio State pegged for the upcoming season, and now it’s time to discuss what flowery things Lindy’s has to say.
First things first, we can confirm that Lindy’s is pretty bullish on Ohio State but a little more conservative than normal. It has the Buckeyes as the No. 7 team in the country. However, as seems to be the case with a lot of other publications, it has Darth Vader ahead of the Scarlet and Gray at No. 5. Seems folks won’t ever learn, but there it is. Everyone keeps waiting for Michigan to show up one of these times.

Now about the commentary on Ohio State, Lindy’s says …
“Welcome to Ohio State, where the expectation every year is to win the Big Ten and make the College Football Playoff. Are you ready for this pressure cooker, Ryan Day? Ready or not, Day has a mountain of expectations heaped on his plate in his debut. His honeymoon will last until, oh, his first failed third-down conversion. A big key to success? Finding a quarterback. All eyes are on uber-talented Justin Fields, the Georgia transfer who brings a fat scrapbook to Columbus. The redshirt freshman better be the real deal.”
So there you have it. Ohio State will be great but Michigan will be better, or something like that.
