Lindt chocolate snow falls from sky in Swiss town after fault at factory

Chocolate snow falling from the sky may sound like a something from a Roald Dahl story but it became reality for the residents of a small town in Switzerland.

A fault in the ventilation system at a factory where Lindt chocolate is made resulted in a fine dusting of cocoa powder spreading covering the surrounding area.

One man was left stunned when he returned to his car left outside a sports hall in the town of Olten to find a brown layer of dust covering the whole vehicle, as reported by Oltner Tagblatt.

On closer inspection he suspected it was cocoa from the nearby Lindt & Sprüngli factory, and the company later confirmed the report.

Chocolate flakes were found on a car nearby (Olten/Twitter)

It said there had been a small defect in the cooling ventilation for a line of "small particles of roasted, crushed cocoa bean pieces" at the factory located between Zurich and Basel.

Incredible pictures show tiny chocolate flakes covering the roof of the car, and gathering on the body.

The incident was tweeted by a Twitter account for Olten with the caption: "Cocoa rain in the Olten industrial quarter: the ventilation system is to blame."

One replied to say "What a treat", while another wrote: "Ooooh I wish I was there."

Lindt & Sprüngli said it was working on fixing the matter and offered to cover the costs for cleaning the car found covered in chocolate powder.

It still might not beat the time residents in an Italian village turned on the taps in their homes to find sparkling red wine poor out instead of water.

A malfunction at winery which produces Lambrusco Grasparossa saw one of the wine silos begin leaking into the water pipe supply in the village of Settecani due to high pressure, and got into the mains network of nearby houses, as reported by Unilad.

We can't decide which one is better.
