Lindsay Lohan's tragic ex Harry Morton was 'hooked on bizarre psychedelic drug' before he died

Lindsay Lohan's tragic ex was hooked on a bizarre psychedelic drug before he died, his friends have claimed.

Harry Morton, the son of Hard Rock Café co founder Peter Morton, died on Saturday after he was found unresponsive by a family member at his Beverly Hills home, but the cause of death is yet to be confirmed

Friends told the Daily Mail that he was a well-known drug user and regularly took ayahuasca - a "psychedelic brew" made from tropical vines and leaves from the Amazon jungle.

The drug distorts brain waves to create a vivid "waking-dream" state and was used by Lindsay, who credited the drug with helping her cope with a miscarriage.

A friend of Harry's told the site: "We've all been concerned over Harry's use of ayahuasca for some time, he was hooked on the stuff.

"He always thought it was safe and natural but he was definitely over using it.

"It's still too early to know exactly how Harry died, but because he was so young his friends and family fear it's drug related - only time will tell."

The friend added: "Harry's sister died of a drug overdose so it would be an absolute tragedy if Harry went the same way."

Speaking about her own use of the drug in 2014, Lindsay said: "I did ayahuasca, it changed my life ... [I let go of the] wreckage of my past."

Harry famously dated Mean Girls actress Lindsay in the 2000s.

The businessman was also romantically linked to Demi Moore, Britney Spears and Paris Hilton at various stages.

He founded popular US restaurant chain Pink Taco when he was just 18-years-old.

His grandfather Arnie was also in the restaurant business and co-founded Morton's Steakhouse back in 1978.
