Lindsay Lohan's mum Dina arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated

Lindsay Lohan's mother has been arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated after she allegedly hit another car last night.

Dina Lohan, 58, was reportedly driving a 2016 Mercedes around Long Island in New York at around 6.30pm on Saturday when the incident occurred, police say.

She is suspected of clipping another vehicle before fleeing the scene, prompting the other driver to chase her home, the Daily Mail reports.

Authorities told the publication that Dina was taken into custody after refusing to take a breathalyser test.

The Nassau County Police Department said Dina had been arrested for DWI and was transferred to court on Sunday morning, it's claimed.

Police also told the paper that Dina had cursed at officers during her arrest.

Dina appeared in court on Sunday on charges of DWI, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage and driving an uninspected vehicle

She pleaded not guilty at her arraignment in First District Court in Hempstead and was released.

She is due back in court on January 15.

Dina's lawyer told Radar Online: "Dina Lohan has not been evaluated concerning her intoxication.

"The allegations are unfounded and we intend to vigorously defend this case, which is returnable in the county court this coming Wednesday."

Mirror Online has contacted representatives for Dina and Lindsay Lohan for comment.

In 2013 Dina was charged with drunk driving after being pulled over for going 77mph in a 55mph zone.

Her blood-alcohol content was .20, which is more than twice the legal limit of .08.

She pleaded guilty and had her driver's license suspended and was ordered to pay a $2,600 (£1,990) fine.
