Lindsay Lohan is being sued by publisher HarperCollins over claims she breached a book deal agreement with the company, it has been reported.
According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, the Mean Girls actor initially signed a contract in March 2014 to write a book for the publishing house.
In the contract, Lohan and her production company said that the draft would be completed by May 2015, but it was never completed.
HarperCollins then claims it revised the date to March 2017, paying Lohan a $365,000 (£280,000) advance on future royalties, only for Lohan to once again not deliver the manuscript.
The book deal was allegedly called off in September 2018, but the publishers claim the payment was never returned.
They are now suing the 34-year-old for the full amount with added interest and legal fees.
Legal documents seen by Entertainment Tonight state that “by failing to return the money to the Plaintiff upon the Defendants’ breach of the agreement, the Defendants have received a windfall and have been unjustly enriched”.
Reports at the time that the publishing deal was signed in 2014 suggested that the book was to be a memoir, with Lohan using material from a diary she had kept during her time in rehab the year before.
The Independent has reached out to Lohan’s representatives for comment.
