Spring's battle of the black ballet flats was going strong, with Kaia Gerber, Zoë Kravitz, and Olivia Rodrigo leading the charge. Out of nowhere, Lindsay Lohan joined the fray on April 2 with her sartorial white knight: snow white loafers.
Lohan spotlighted her stark white slippers around New York City on her second day filming the upcoming thriller series Count My Lies. She channeled a Brooklyn brownstone's resident in a white button-down, a suede spring jacket, and straight-leg jeans. Her sky-blue denim complemented her equally-seasonal shoes, stacked on top of matching socks. Despite running around downtown, not a single scuff or water spot damaged the elongated Penny uppers, structured heels, or black rubber soles. The eye-catching shoes added to the cool, New York City mom charm of her Count My Lies character.

We don't know much about Lohan's Violet Lockhart, but Penny loafers seem to play a leading role in the Hulu show. On April 1, the Freaky Friday alum filmed another scene in black loafers, featuring extra-pointy toe boxes and even-shorter soles. Perhaps Spring 2026 shoe trends inspired Lohan's switch to white. Tod's, Fendi, Todd Snyder, and Tove traded black loafers for almost-identical, pearly white picks. Most even boasted the same, low-profile soles as Lohan's loafers.

Surprising sub-genres of loafers are dropping left and right this season. Just last week, Marie Claire flagged the return of backless loafers in Celine, Bottega Veneta, and Victoria Beckham's recent runway shows. Meanwhile, celebrity style circles are holding down the slipper-looking loafer fort. In March, everyone from Zendaya to Kravitz is styling the slip-ons (albeit darker colors) with early-spring streetwear. Now, white flats wearers like Lohan can follow suit.
