Linda Pizzuti reacts to Liverpool being given green light to resume Premier League training

Linda Pizzuti says she is "thrilled" by the news Liverpool have taken a step nearer a return to Premier League action.

Top-flight clubs voted unanimously on Monday in favour of a set of medical protocols for the first stage of a resumption of training.

The Premier League has been suspended since March 13 due to the coronavirus outbreak, with officials having formulated a plan called 'Project Restart' aimed at resuming the campaign on June 19.

Jurgen Klopp's side will later this week begin small group training at Melwood with a number of players having already been working on their fitness individually at the facility.

And Pizzuti, wife of Liverpool owner John Henry, has expressed her delight at the development.

She tweeted: "So thrilled that the Premier League found a way to return to small group training TOMORROW – the first step towards restarting the Premier League, when safe to do so."

Liverpool stand a record 25 points clear at the Premier League summit and need only two more wins to claim their first championship since 1990.
