Linda Nolan to take 'wonder drug' in hopes of beating cancer

Linda Nolan said is ready to start taking a "wonder drug" in the hope it gives her "more time" to tackle her brain tumour.

The 64-year-old was diagnosed six years ago but fears she's now facing a "one-way trip" after she was informed the incurable cancer had spread to her brain six weeks ago.

Doctors warned Linda not to "compare herself" to her late sister Bernie, who died following a battle with breast cancer at age 52 in 2013. Her husband Brian was also lost to the disease whereas her eldest sister, Anne, managed to fight it successfully.

Speaking to Women magazine, she said: "When I was on chemo in 2020 I stayed on it until I couldn’t handle it. So if it’s working, we’ll go with it. Anything that’ll give me time.

"I’ve had radiotherapy and soon I’ll be starting a drug for brain tumours, which is being nailed as a wonder drug - alongside another chemo drug.

"They keep telling me not compare myself to Bernie, because ten years have gone by and they didn’t have these drugs then."

Linda just recently finished 11 radiotherapy sessions followed by steroids. She's now awaiting the results of a second MRI scan to see if the brain tumours have shrunk.

Despite the ongoing treatment to help tempter her condition, Linda admitted she's still struggling emotionally. Speaking to the Mirror, she said: "I think it’s a one-way trip now. I am positive, but I have my moments when I slide down the wall in a heap.

"What happens? Is it dark, are you on your own? I’m frightened of the unknown and being on my own, I have always been with people. I’m frightened to cry in case I don’t stop sometimes."
