'Linda Nolan is absolutely NOT dead.' The Nolans issue strong statement after claims their sister has died

The Nolan family have been forced to release a statement after a tweet claimed that Linda Nolan had passed away. In March the singer revealed that her cancer had spread to her brain in a heartbreaking interview on Good Morning Britain - read more about that here.

The band shared a tweet from a radio DJ mistakenly saying their sister had died, with the group writing on Twitter: "Just over 20 minutes since this was tweeted and the sheer volume of calls we’ve received because of this. Linda Nolan is absolutely NOT dead."

Tony Airey shared an image of the 64-year-old on the afternoon of Thursday, May 4 and told his 349 followers: "So sad to read that @LindaNolan_ has died i have so many memories seeing the Nolans at concerts i still have a signed photo from 83 Crawley Sports Centre West Sussex loved playing their music on my mobile disco & hospital radio crawley sending condolences to family R.I.P Linda."

The tweet has subsequently been removed but prior to doing so, Tony was met with countless messages on the social media platform. One person replied to him: "Was talking to her an hour ago, seems well enough to me.”

A second person said: "You are a disgrace, kindly remove the tweet, so unfair of you to that to the family and @LindaNolan_ fans. Some fan you are." And a third wrote: "Do the right thing and delete this please!!!!!"
