Linda Lusardi's daughter thanks 'wonderful' NHS for saving her mum in coronavirus battle

Linda Lusardi's daughter Lucy has thanked the NHS staff who looked after her mum as she battled coronavirus in hospital.

Lucy Kane's mum, former glamour girl Linda, and dad, Sam Kane, both tested positive for the deadly bug after being admitted to hospital last week.

Sam, 51, made a swift recovery, but Linda, 61, was left fighting for her life.

She now appears to have turned a corner and is recovering well - and Lucy has been quick to thank the "wonderful" medics who saved her life.

In a post on Instagram, Lucy wrote: "I would like to say a personal thank you to all the wonderful staff that nursed my amazing dad back to health and all the staff currently looking after my beautiful mum, helping her recover from this awful virus...

"You're all incredible. Thank you from the bottom of my heart."

On Thursday Sam lamented his former glamour model wife, 61, had a "long way to go" in her battle against the COVID-19 infection on Thursday.

However, he was delighted to share Linda had "dropped her oxygen intake" as she continued to make her recovery.

The devoted husband said he had truly believed his wife had beaten the killer virus and her body was on the mend.

He wrote: "My beautiful girl has dropped her oxygen intake today which is amazing news. She’s still got a long way to go but these baby steps are on a roll now.

"I truly believe she’s beaten the virus now and her body is concentrating on healing itself after the battle. She’s a fighter and she will win this."

Sam made a special mention to the Clap for our Carers moment which brought Britain to a stand still earlier on Thursday.

Everyone flocked to their doorsteps and their balconies to clap for the NHS workers and all the overtime they have been putting in to save lives.

He added: "What a truly stunning moment that was. Hearing so many people cheering and sending absolute love to the people who are saving so many lives. Right now, was spellbinding. The NHS staff have been and continue to be the heroes in all of this."

Sam also thanked everyone for messaging in their prayers and kind words amid Linda's battle.

He signed off: "Your messages and prayers are incredible. Your support has been so strong and wonderful and I thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart.
