Linda Lusardi broke down during an interview on Good Morning Britain today as she described her coronavirus horror.
The actress, who is married to Huyton actor Sam Kane, had to be comforted by Susanna Reid as she became distressed.
Linda, 61, contracted the illness alongside husband Sam and spent 10 days in hospital suffering from fever, chronic chest pains and vomiting.
She told Piers Morgan and Susanna: "He was very very ill and I was looking after him, but I was sleeping in bed with him because we didn't realise what he had actually got, and then I contracted it, and then he felt he was getting better and started looking after me."
Linda continued: "On the second night Sam was taken downstairs as he'd tested positive, I tested negative at first.
"The doctor came in and he washed his hands and I asked him am I gonna make it though this.
"He said 'you're 61 we don't know what we're dealing with', I texted Sam and said can you come up and see me because I don't know if I'm gonna make it through this."
She added: "He held my hand and said, 'you can’t give up, you have got to think about the children, they can’t lose their mum'.
"It helped, it made me stronger. I was on 30 percent oxygen then and by the fourth day they said, 'I think you're gonna have to go into intensive care'."
Linda then praised the NHS staff for their wonderful work.
Susanna said Linda: "You had a brush with your worst fears. It's down to the NHS workers that you are here and are back with us."
