Linda Carlson dead: Honey, I Blew Up The Kids star dies after brave ALS battle

Hollywood actress Linda Carlson has died aged 76.

The star, who appeared in a number of popular TV shows from through the seventies through to the early noughties, died on October 26 in Connecticut, USA, following a struggle with ALS.

Her family announced her death in the LA Times today and paid tribute to the actress.

She was best known for her appearance as Bev Dutton on Newhart from 1985 until 1987. Two years later, she starred on Days Of Our Lives as Dr Elaine Schaefer.

Linda also appeared in series Murder One as Judge Beth Bornstein from 1995 until 1997.

The actress also appeared on the big screen as a noisy neighbour in 1992's Honey, I Blew Up the Kids and played Aunt Pearl on The Beverley Hillbillies in 1993.

Her passion for acting was kickstarted at school at Edina, Minnesota, and she went on to pursue acting at the University of Iowa, where she graduated with a BA.

She was issued with a full scholarship for New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and graduated with an MFA.

As well as acting, Linda enjoyed writing and has previously been published in the NY Times.

She is survived by her husband James A. V. Hart, sister Janet Calson Ouren, her brother James Hale Carlson and four nieces and nephews.
