A murder inquiry has been opened in Lincolnshire following the discovery of two bodies on Friday. The victims, reportedly a mother and daughter, were found dead in a house in Spalding, a market town of about 30,000 people.
Police said they were treating the deaths as suspicious and they have made two arrests in connection with the inquiry. Neither victim has been officially named and their cause of death has not been confirmed.
Supt Paul Timmins of Lincolnshire police said forensic inquiries were continuing at the house on Dawson Avenue where the bodies were found. He said the type of crime was extremely rare, adding: “We believe this is a completely isolated incident.”
A neighbour told the Daily Mirror that a woman from Edinburgh and her 13-year-old daughter had been found in their home. A second daughter also reportedly lived in the property.
Timmins said: “We are looking at a number of lines of inquiry and doing our utmost to get to the bottom of what has happened.”
DCI Martin Holvey, who is leading the investigation, said officers wanted to hear from anyone who was in the area of Dawson Avenue from Wednesday 12pm to the same time on Friday and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious.
Anyone with information should call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
