Lincoln Red Imps shoot down Celtic claim with 'hold my beer' tweet

Lincoln Red Imps have aimed a dig at Celtic's "world first" quadruple Treble claim.

Neil Lennon's side racked up four consecutive domestic clean sweeps with a Scottish Cup Final victory over Hearts on Sunday.

The Parkhead club have promoted the stunning achievement as having never been done anywhere else in world football.

But the Gibraltarians, who shocked Celtic in Champions League qualifying first leg in 2016, have presented evidence to the contrary.

Red Imps' official Twitter accounted pointed out they once completed a quintuple Treble.

In a remarkable run, they won all three domestic trophies five years on the trot from 2003 until 2008.

The Tweet read: "Hold my beer.

"The #QuintupleTreble - 2003/04, 2004/05, 2005/06, 2006/07 and 2007/08."

Celtic passed up the chance to embark on a quintuple Treble bid of their own earlier this season.

Lennon's team were knocked out of the Betfred Cup at the last 16 stage by Ross County, meaning there will be a new name on the trophy for the first time County themselves won it four years ago.
