Lincoln crash: Person fighting for life and 4 hurt as cars crash with pedestrians

A person is fighting for their life while four others were seriously injured in a horror crash during a car meet.

Lincolnshire Police have confirmed that two vehicles crashed and collided with spectators in Lincoln last night.

The smash happened in Whisby Road shortly after 10.15pm last night, with five casualties taken to hospital.

Paramedics, fire crews and an air ambulance were called to the scene, Lincolnshire Live reports.

Police said this morning: "Four people are in a serious condition and another considered critical following a collision which involved two cars and pedestrians at a car meet in Lincoln.

"Police were called to the incident in Whisby Road at 10.16pm last night (21 August) after two vehicles collided with spectators before leaving the road and ending up in ditches.

"The vehicles involved are believed to have been travelling at high speed at the time of the collisions.

"We are now appealing for anyone who was there and has recorded their own footage but not yet been spoken to or provided it to police, to come forward."

In an update just after 2.30am, the force said: "We remain on scene at a multi-vehicle RTC involving a number of casualties at Whisby Road, Lincoln. It was called in to us at 10.16pm last night. Five casualties described as serious to critical have been taken to hospital."

Facebook user Peter Kemp warned of the "major police incident" on Whisby Road.

Posting shortly after 1am, he said: "I've never seen so many blue lights."

In a further update at around 5.30am, police wrote: "There is a large police presence at the scene of a serious RTC at Whisby Road in Lincoln while we conduct our initial investigations and the road will remain closed until at least 7am.

"Very resource-intensive incident with ambulance fire, and air ambulance all attending."
