Lincoln City boss expresses 'disappointment' with Nottingham Forest after striker decision

Lincoln City boss Michael Appleton has expressed his disappointment that Nottingham Forest “left it so late” to recall Tyler Walker.

The Reds striker was due to spend the season with the Imps, but yesterday his loan was brought to an early end to bolster Sabri Lamouchi’s attacking options at the City Ground.

Walker had been in fine form for the League One side, netting 16 goals in 34 appearances.

Forest head coach Lamouchi apologised for “creating some problems” for Lincoln, who will be compensated financially for losing the forward.

But Appleton admits he was left with little time to source a replacement.

“I am disappointed it was left so late, there’s no doubt about that,” he told Lincolnshire Live.

“But the reality is, we knew this could potentially happen.

“That was the reason we had to act fast with Tyreece (John-Jules) at the time because a lot of clubs were interested in him.

“In terms of options, having Tyreece, Tom (Hopper) and Tyler would have been fantastic for the rest of the season.”

He added: “I wish Tyler all the very best.

“I’ve been in football long enough. You’ve got to move on and move on quickly. There’s no point looking back on what could have happened.”
