Limping dog found wandering north Manchester streets reunited with owner

The owner of a dog found wandering the streets of north Manchester has been found, say police.

The poor pooch was found on French Barn Lane, Blackley at around 4am today (Friday).

He was taken to Central Park Police Station where he was cared for by officers, before he was taken to a vets.

Officers from GMP's north Manchester team say the dog, called Fred, has now been reunited with his owner.

Updating the appeal on Facebook, GMP said: "Thanks to everyone who shared our appeal to track down the owner of a rather glum looking pooch our officers found wandering the streets of #Blackley early this morning.

"We can confirm that Fred has been reunited with his owner after a friend spotted the appeal.

"He is said to be feeling much cheerier now!

Officers are keen to reunite the pet with his owner.

PC Martin of GMP's City of Manchester division, said earlier today: "We stumbled across the poor guy in the early hours as he was embarking on an adventure around the streets of Blackley.

"It appears as though he's managed to escape from his house and owner but he's received VIP treatment from officers before being collected by pet medics.

"We're sure there are some very worried owners out there who are keen to be reunited with him so we're appealing to anyone who may recognise him or knows his owners to get in touch with police and help us reunite him."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 0161 856 4024 quoting incident 426 of 14/05/21.
