Limerick shooting: Emergency services rush to scene after man found shot in car

A man has been rushed to hospital after being shot in Limerick City this evening.

The man, aged in his 40s, was found in a car in the Castle Street area with bullet wounds.

The man was rushed to University Hospital Limerick where his condition is stable.

Gardai are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area to get in touch.

Shortly before 7pm lat evening Gardaí and emergency services were called to Castle Street in Limerick City where a man understood to be in his 40s was discovered in a car with a gunshot wound. (Press 22)

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí in Limerick are appealing for witnesses following a shooting incident in Limerick City on Thursday 11th June, 2020.

"Shortly before 7pm Gardaí and emergency services were called to Castle Street in Limerick City where a man understood to be in his 40s was discovered in a car with a gunshot wound. He was removed from the scene by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick. His condition is described as stable.

"The scene is preserved for forensic and technical examination. No arrests have been made to date.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Henry Street Garda Station 061-212 400 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.

"Investigations are ongoing."
