Limerick gardai catch driver with homemade insurance disc written in biro

An uninsured Limerick driver was caught displaying a homemade insurance disc written in biro and marker.

Gardai from Henry Street stopped the driver during a Covid-19 patrol.

Officers weren't fooled by the shoddy-looking 'disc' and revealed the car was seized and the motorist will be receiving a "not-so-homemade" summons."

The unconvincing piece of paper claimed the driver had just renewed their insurance and was insured until April 9, 2021.

They'd added their registration and the name of an insurer - but gardai weren't fooled by the forgery.

A tweet from the official Garda Traffic account said:

"Enquiries revealed the driver was not insured.

"The car was seized and the driver will be receiving a not-so-homemade summons."

One person replied: "He only got a week or so out of it.......he can refund himself 50 weeks."

Another quipped: "I hope he overcharged himself to make it realistic."
