Limerick FC claim to be in ‘advanced negotiations’ with investors.
According to the First Division club, they have been in talks with the group since July and former League of Ireland manager Sean Connor is representing the investors.
“The group have a firm business plan and strategy in place. We share their vision, values and core objectives for the club,” read a Limerick statement.
"We had hoped to make a formal announcement this week, however some additional time is required for legal documents to be finalised.
“This is due to one of the main parties involved being away on other business matters.”
But Limerick believe a deal will be completed ‘in the coming days’. And a club spokesman said a takeover would “bring certainty and structure to the club’s affairs and alleviate the current stresses.”
Limerick’s players experienced a delay in wages and only received their March pay this week.
The squad were due their April wages today.
